Installation of Valves
May 09, 2023
After the valve passes the inspection test, it can be installed and the following aspects should be paid attention to:
(1) Measure the structural length of the valve, the flange, bolt holes and their center distances before replacing a single valve. After meeting the requirements, open the valve to a slightly closed state and start the installation.
(2) If it is a newly designed pipeline, the pipeline should be clean before installing the valve. Remove all kinds of debris and oil in the pipeline before installing the valve. The valves that have been repaired and qualified must be installed in the same way as in (2).
The installation location of the valve should be convenient to operate. There should be space for maintenance, maintenance, and disassembling of valves installed on the parallel pipeline. The distance between the two valves should be greater than 100mm. If the distance between the pipeline is too narrow, the valve should be separated and installed. The position of the valve installed for the branch pipe of the main pipe should be close to the main pipe as much as possible to prevent the pipeline from vibrating and damaging. The gate valve with double plates should be installed vertically. The gate valve with single plates can be installed at any angle, but it is not allowed to be installed in a reverse position. The inverted installation may affect the service life of the valve. To operate the valve easily, manual, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic gate valves should generally be installed vertically.
The globe valve and the throttle valve can be installed at any location of the pipeline. Valves with driving devices should be installed based on the instruction manual. The throttle valve should be installed in a relatively spacious position because the flow is often adjusted. The lifting valve can only be installed on the horizontal pipeline. Spring vertical and swing check valves can be installed on a horizontal or vertical pipeline, but the rocker pin shaft of the swing check valve should maintain the horizontal position as much as possible. The ball valve, butterfly valve, and diaphragm valve can be installed at any location of the pipeline, but those with the drive mechanism should be installed horizontally as much as possible. The installation of the three-way and four-way ball valves should be in the vertical position. The plug valve can be installed at any location, but the position should be favorable to observe the groove and facilitate operation. The three-way and four-way rotor valves should be installed vertically. Safety valves should be installed vertically. Back pressure should be generally avoided for the outlet of the safety valve, depending on the application. The steam trap is generally installed on the horizontal pipeline, and the discs steam trap can be installed in other positions. A steam trap is usually installed at the end or the lowest point of the saturated steam pipe, the lowest point at the end of the steam tracer pipe, and the lowest point where steam does not flow frequently, before the pressure-reducing valve and regulating valve of the steam system, the lower part of the steam-water separator and the steam heater where frequent drainage is required.
Generally, for the valve installed at normal temperature, open the valve a little after installation and then tightly tightened the flange bolts of the valve to prevent leakage after the pipeline is working. The force of the pipeline during installation may be affected due to the heavy weight of the large-diameter valve. Therefore, setting the bracket should be considered when installing a valve with a big diameter to ensure the safety of the pipeline.
